FDI in Ecommerce Marketplaces
#1
DIPP has come up with guidelines on FDI in ecommerce marketplaces and allowed 100% in marketplace model based ecommerce company. - You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login to view.

AIOVA has the following stand :
Aiova is taking this positively as till now there was no official stand by goi on fdi in ecom marketplaces. Secondly, they have also defined marketplace and inventory based ecommerce. This will help in bringing legislations and regulations. The main positive point is that goi has restricted sales to 25% from a single or group entity. This will curb the malpractices of ws retail, vector ecommerce and cloudtail whose agreements with marketplaces are not in public domain. We hope such positive steps will lead to bringing a regulatory body like rbi, sebi, irda, cerc in marketplace based ecommerce companies

There is point 9 in it :
Quote: ecommerce entities will not influence the price and maintain level playing field

We look forward to a grieviance mechanism for the same as this is a widespread malpractice by ecoms.
And we also want to know governments efforts in mantaining a level playing field

HI ,

The government proposal means the following:

1) Marketplaces cannot subsidize products. (No more crazy deals...shopclues are you listening)
2) Marketplaces cannot indirectly sell through their proxies on their own platforms.

Lets see how much policing is going to be done by the government

Sir 2nd point is not mentioned in policy. They cannot sell more than 25% of a single seller or seller group

If that is so then its good. A temporary slug will be there. Then all consumers will have no option but to buy without discounts

Of course the low order stream is due to non availability of exorbitant discounts, but this is good as it forbids the confrontations with b/m      ( brick & mortar) sellers. The buyers are bound to return due to convenience and spread of the merchandise available online.
